GURU PURNIMA
To honor the esteemed teachers of HKS International School, a special function was organized on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima on 13th July 2022. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Mr. Candra Kanth Sharma, symbolizing the removal of ignorance and the ushering in of knowledge and wisdom.
Guru Purnima is a day dedicated to honoring teachers, who are revered for dispelling the darkness from our minds. An ancient Sanskrit phrase, "Matah Pitah Guru Daivam," beautifully encapsulates the revered position of teachers, placing them above even God. According to this phrase, the first place of honor is reserved for the mother, the second for the father, the third for the Guru, and the fourth for God. This profound sentiment was at the heart of the day's celebration.
The entire school community, from Kindergarten to Grade 10, participated in the event with great enthusiasm. The function began on a joyful note with the school prayer, setting a positive and reflective tone for the day. Principal Mr. Candra Kanth Sharma delivered an inspiring speech, reminding everyone of the invaluable role teachers play in shaping the lives of their students.
The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the teachers, acknowledging their dedication and the profound impact they have on their students' lives.
HEALTHY FOOD V/s JUNK FOOD
Life today is vastly different from the past. In earlier times, people consumed nutritious foods that were truly beneficial for their well-being. However, in the modern age, our diets are often dominated by unhealthy options like pizza, burgers, French fries, donuts, noodles, and carbonated drinks—all of which fall under the category of junk food. Unfortunately, today's generation is increasingly drawn to these less nutritious options.
Understanding the importance of promoting healthy eating habits, HKS International School organized a special activity on the theme of "Healthy vs. Junk Food" for the students of Grade 1 and 2. The students enthusiastically participated by dressing according to the theme, engaging in a fun and educational quiz, and taking part in brainstorming sessions on the topic.
A special assembly was held where students shared their thoughts on the importance of healthy eating. They also brought healthy snacks from home to enjoy with their friends, reinforcing the day's lessons in a practical and enjoyable way.
The purpose of this activity was to help students categorize foods into two groups: Healthy Food and Junk Food. Through this hands-on experience, the young learners were able to identify the differences between the two, fostering an early understanding of the importance of making healthier food choices.

HANDS ON ACTIVITY
At HKS International School, we place a strong emphasis on learning through movement, conversation, and play, especially in our Junior classes. We believe that our little stars thrive when they engage in playful, hands-on activities that stimulate their minds and bodies.
We recognize that children should not be confined to screens, responding to voice commands for the majority of their education. Instead, we encourage active, experiential learning. To foster this approach, we have introduced hands-on activity projects for our students, allowing them to explore, create, and learn in a more interactive and meaningful way.
Our students have enthusiastically embraced this initiative, and we are proud to showcase some of the wonderful hands-on activities they have created, which are shared below. These projects reflect their creativity, curiosity, and understanding, demonstrating the power of learning through doing.

One such delightful event was the Rainy Day celebration, held on 16th July 2022. Rainy days are always a source of joy for children, and when celebrated at school, they create a light and magical atmosphere for our little ones.
Under the thoughtful guidance of our Principal, the Rainy Day celebration took place within the school premises. Rather than keeping the children confined to their classrooms, the toddlers from kindergarten were brought out into the open ground by their teachers. Equipped with colorful umbrellas and raincoats, the children had the chance to experience and enjoy the playful rainy weather firsthand.
The kids had an absolute blast, reveling in the festivity of the day. Such activities not only bring joy but also help children become more outgoing, allowing even the shyest students to feel comfortable and friendly in a supportive learning environment.
